We just love Auchenflower and the region around this fantastic inner city Brisbane suburb. When you come to stay with Uptown Apartments in our Cadell Street Executive Apartment, we want you to know where the best cafes, bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity are. That way you can utilize all your time to enjoy all that Brisbane has to offer you and your family.
First up – coffee. Where do you go in Auchenflower to get a good brew? Right next door to Auchenflower is the suburb of Milton. You could actually walk there from Cadell Street and enjoy a great coffee at Bunker Coffee in Railway Terrace – fantastic coffee served out of an old WWII bomb shelter! Bunker coffee serves very good coffee and has a small number of cakes for takeaway. The vines growing around the entrance and on the ‘cafe’s’ roof give it a quirky vibe. Limited seating and shade means it is suitable for short sit downs only. If you prefer to stay in Auchenflower, Cafe Auchenflower at 97 Haig Road is a great choice. A fantastic local cafe with great coffee and great food. It has a courtyard and is next door to a wonderful little park making it great if you have kids.
In the evening when you are looking for food, there are exceptional choices in the immediate surrounds of Cadell Street. If you are a lover of Indian fare, Sky Indian Restaurant aims to serve the pinnacle of Indian cuisine to all its customers. We like the following recent Trip Advisor review:
“What a fantastic unique place hidden behind its walls. We recently celebrated my husbands birthday here, and were greatly surprised from settings to lights to service. Such a unique restaurant. If you’re looking for something different then this is the place. Great for a group, and even better to take that someone special, or a first date, so much to look at, there will always be conversation. Oh and the food! WOW! Full of flavour and beautifully presented. The staff are fantastic, service is great. I highly recommend!”
If you happen to be travelling with your family, you can take a leisurely river cruise from Brisbane to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to meet native Australian wildlife up close. This half-day tour departs from bustling Southbank and cruises along the Brisbane River with views of iconic landmarks on the way to Lone Pine. Upon arrival, you’ll have about 3 hours to meet the animals. Observe the platypus, and watch animal shows that feature sheepdogs and birds of prey. A great experience for animal lovers! You can get to Southbank by river ferry from either Auchenflower or Milton.
